Presenting audit information to a provider can be a daunting task. Each provider can intake and process the information presented to them differently. So, an auditor needs to be prepared for differing ways to present information. Every encounter with a provider is a chance to educate and build a trust that opens their ears and minds to what you are saying. It’s all about the semantics of the conversation.
Learning and growing, sometimes, is about being exposed to different ways of doing things. It’s about identifying what works for you and adapting to that when needed. If you are giving news to a provider that isn’t positive, there is an increased need to have tools in your pocket to help with that meeting. Keeping the provider engaged and not focusing on mistakes found is a must.
The conversation with the provider should be professional, focused and have positive, solution-giving information for them. Rather than focus on the negative of what was done wrong, focus on what was done correctly and how, potentially, with minor changes!
